After the starting win over Fulham, Hull continued to impress in the top flight as they earned a point from Blackburn. The Tigers lost their League Cup game on Wednesday, though Phil Brown fielded second string side. Wigan was unable to materialize their two very good performances, but from what we have seen they are to have very good season indeed. The Latics dominated the game against Chelsea, and created several clear-cut chances, but Petr Cech was at top of his form, and he denied Wigan deserved points.

Wigan was two goals down after just ten minutes of the game with West Ham, but they fought back and West Ham was forced to work hard to keep their advantage. New signings made their mark, and especially Zaki was the real threat for their opponents. Scolari’s reign as a Chelsea manager started with a convincing win over Portsmouth, and new signing Deco also proved his credentials by scoring a great goal.
